New Diagnosis

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby!

We know receiving a diagnosis of thalassaemia can be difficult and a daunting experience for your entire family. We are here to help you transition into this process.

We have created a few fact sheets and documents to help you in this period whether you received a diagnosis of the condition or a carrier result.

In the meantime, if you are a new parent, please take a few moments to read the booklet.

This booklet is designed for parents whose children have been diagnosed with a severe form of thalassaemia. It provides a basic guide to thalassaemia and signposts to sources of useful information and appropriate services for patients, their families and carers.

For information on a thalassaemia carrier diagnosis, please look at the section types of thalassaemia under the “what is thalassaemia page.”

Also, check out the our members stories and parents corner for some awe-inspiring stories from some of our families.

Health professionals may also find this information useful.

In each section you will find references to where you can find further information.
